The Internet is the medium and not the cause
When will people wake up to the fact that the information is at your fingertips and a mouse?
The embryo of the Internet - designed in the 60's (with the ARPANET in 1969, being the most accepted genesis), created by - and for - Universities should have been aborted on the spot ...
While only government research centers and universities had access, although little information, even thought the "black" future of that good idea.
Social networks have their role. The microblogging (read Twitter), too. Video conferencing, when used properly, ibid.
Then came the people ...
And with them, a lot of bad thoughts. 'A lot', here, represents REALLY a lot of.
Unfortunately, good - if not the largest - part of the "trash" generated in the large network is produced by BRAZILIAN people.
Crimes scheduled through 'posts' or via the sharing of pornographic images involving children and adolescents, the great dream of connecting all computers in the world transformed the simple act of clicking a link in a real Russian roulette.
Being a teacher and consultant in IT, I MUST get to know the tools (whether to recommend them or to develop similar applications), but I confess I am VERY concerned about the content, because the way I already knew.
From jokes and slides containing beautiful images and thoughts to XXX videos and attempts to catch the unsuspecting user, our email accounts are daily bombarded with "a little of everything." Sometimes they give us encouragement in the sad times ...
But, invariably, are current Trojans, old jokes, fake news ...
So, how to filter good information?
Common sense, after all.
We can't truly believe in everything you read - and see / hear - on the Internet.
Anyone making a page and hosting anywhere. Even with names similar to the "original" with the intent to seem believable.
In this case, just a query to reliable sources: other users.
Still, with proper care, they may also have been abducted by the dark side of the pseudo-information.
As if that were not enough, ALL the problems caused by the massive use of network resources, the WORST is what concerns the morality of minors.
Typical case is the publication of photos / videos with little - if any - clothes in social networks / videochats without proper adult supervision.
I've had the misfortune, clicking randomly on the list of available rooms on a site that offers videoconferencing facilities, to see a girl "offering up" (literally), playing the audience.
Pitiful!
Hence the other side.
Where are the parents of that girl? Does at least know what she's doing in front of a webcam?
It's an incentive to pedophilia?
Since when it needs encouragement?
There is an urgent need to report the camera (or the room but not the service itself, for the purpose IS NOT THAT. Just read the ToS - Terms of Service - available on the homepage of the sites that offer it).
And speaking of this filth that is this sexual predilection for children, here's another issue: the mistaken utilization of this vernacular.
Pedos refers to children (pediatrician ...).
In the case of attraction to prepubescent youths, the correct term is hebefilia (hebe = youth).
But this is the case for another post.
By the way, BOTH are disgusting!
Thus, it is my indignation about the misuse of the Internet.
Some residents of other countries (i mean the non-Brazilian) keep themselves VERY FAR from certain social networks.
Yes, they use other ones.
But that will soon be destroyed by bad use of some Brazilian...
FYI, as a Brazilian, I'm NOT proud of this behavior!
